This wasn’t the first time I have had to carve foreign objects out of my flesh, previous fun-and-games including crown-of-thorns spines (one of which remained in there for two months before it got enough puss around it for me to get it out), rattlesnake fangs (including one tip of an eastern diamond rattlesnake fang that was broken off against my left thumb bone for six weeks) and python teeth (with the inevitable dental left-overs stuck in for a few weeks).
